How to Use Technology To Score Better in School?

How Can Technology Improve Education? | HMH

As a student, if someone told me that education was fun, I would probably start judging them. Although there is nothing wrong with enjoying what you study, but we all know that it is challenging and quite boring.

When I was a student, I struggled with my grades for  a few years. I was advised to get extra help, online lectures, and even some extra books. I tried everything.

Was it hard? Yes.

 Did it help? No.

Some might disagree because I have seen people improving with private tuition or some extra help from online lectures but maybe it was not for me. To make matters worse, my sleep schedule was getting worse because I would look through YouTube tutorials, only to find myself laughing hysterically at cat videos at 3 am. I know you can relate because we all have no self-control when it comes to scrolling mindlessly.

Moreover, when you have access to a fiber internet, which offers unlimited internet, good speed, little to no latency, I do not blame you for spending your time online.

Just when I thought I was a lost cause and might as well give up on my studies, I started following some productivity gurus. Most of these productivity gurus are YouTubers and they juggle multiple projects. I started using their productivity-boosting tips and I have seen my scores soar within a few months.

Top Tech Productivity Tips to Score Better

Now I don’t promise that this will work for you just as it was working for me but I am sure you will see some improvement. Nearly everyone in my course tried these tips and they saw significant improvement in their scores.

Most of these tips are productivity boosting so students as well as job employees will find these tips  to be equally helpful.

  1. Use Scheduling App

These are the very basic tips that have helped me to stay organized. When you have a deadline to meet, you will feel motivated and this is the skill that will eventually help you work more. I use the To Do app by Microsoft and this has so far helped me. However, if you want to make things more official, you can also use Google Calendar, share it with your friends and family, or just keep it for your self-satisfaction.

I generally list my daily tasks in the To Do app but when I have something related to studies, especially taking short notes or revising something or I have an exam coming I add it to my calendar.

  1. Block Apps and Websites

One of the best ways you can stop yourself from wasting time is to block everything that is distracting you. Most of my time is spent on social media apps so, I block all the apps. You can easily get a free app-blocking tool online. Most of these blocking apps are free but they limit the simultaneous app blocking number to just 1 or 2. I personally use Freedom but AppBlock is another very good option that you can try.

  1. Record Screen Time

If you feel like most of your productive time is spent scrolling through Instagram or watching TikTok then it is better to keep track of your screen time and see which app you use the most. Based on the time spent and overall utility, you can then block the apps or if the problem gets out of hand, just delete the app.

I have tried deleting my Instagram app for at least 6 months and once I was back on Instagram, I realized that I no longer feel the urge to open it often.

  1. Use Ambiance Videos and Apps

While studying or working, surroundings distract most people. I personally have no self-control so when someone is talking, I generally leave everything and spend the next few hours just chitchatting. If you have the same issue, you can create a very productive ambiance with sounds and visuals.

My favorite thing to do is to use Noisli for creating an ambiance because I feel I enjoy working especially completing my assignment when I am in a café. However, for memorizing anything I enjoy rain and thunderstorm noise.

  1. Use AI for Easy Research

Since AI is here and most people like to use AI for summarizing the work or for improving their learning, I do the same. My favorite is ChatGPT mainly because it is free and you can get a simple quick answer. With AI tools, you cannot just get memorizing tricks but you can ask AI to make a story that can help you learn a topic. Another fun way to learn something is to ask questions. Once you have learned something you can also use quiz-based apps to practice and evaluate what you have learned so far.

Wrap Up

To sum it up, learning can be boring but AI and tech can make it fun. However, you need to learn how you can use AI and tech for learning and improving your overall experience. The above-mentioned simple tips are tried and tested so I am sure they can help you improve your scores.
